Eco-mUNITY wants to represent the flavor of your neighborhood with a kiosk that is designed to be part of the infrastructure for a forward looking and sustainably minded Portland. Eco-mUNITY kiosks:
* are sustainably powered with options such as:
- bike power
- solar power
- hand crank power
- wind power
* provide a public collaborative workspace with options such as:
- 1 or more OLPC laptop(s)
- wireless mesh (see Eco-mUNITY Mesh Project)
- an mPower Station to charge your cel phone, etc.
* allow greater participation in public politics
- goal of increased integration of kiosk input with neighborhood meetings
- polls and voting on hyperlocal issues
* amplify the flavor of the neighborhood and community through:
- local artists help to design and construct each unique kiosk
- locally owned businesses sponsor the installation
- neighborhood history and culture is highlighted in the design and media display
